Victorian French Jet (Black Glass) Mourning Pendant
Item #8990

Mourning Jewelry was worn in memory of a beloved family member. Jewelry pieces were both ornate and simple; some included a locket where a lock of hair of the person to be remembered could be placed. Mourning Jewelry dates back to a much earlier period than many of the items displayed here. Mourning jewelry was popular after the death of Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria of England. This fashion trend continued until the death of Victoria herself in 1901. "French Jet" was first used in the 1880s. The stones are actually created using black glass. Here is a Victorian French Jet Mourning pendant. Created in a starburst design, this pendant features slender faceted navette and round stones, in a Japanned setting. This Victorian brooch is signed, although it is not possible to read and I am unable to identify the manufacturer or country of origin. Measuring 2-1/4" x 1-3/4". In very good condition, there is one small black stone missing from a point located at the bottom of the pendant which could be replaced. An unusual and rare Victorian pendant, and very collectible.

Elegant Vintage Sapphire Rhinestone Lavaliere
Item #7031

From an estate on the rural Eastern Shore of Virginia. This vintage Lavaliere dates to the early 1900s. Created with seed pearls (on wire) and a single blue sapphire colored stone. Absolutely lovely! I suspect the necklace chain may not be original although it compliments the Lavaliere perfectly. The necklace chain measures 17-1/2" and is unmarked but has appears gold-filled. The Lavaliere itself is unmarked but tests for 10K gold. In very good condition. Vintage at its best!

Edwardian Onyx & Floral Mosaic Necklace!
Item #6970

A wonderful find! This vintage necklace, obtained from a local Eastern Shore estate, features a mosaic floral center within what appears to be a prong-set black onyx stone. This necklace has the appearance of a rolled-gold finish, however, it did not test as such. This creates the center of the necklace, surrounded by three interlocking embossed goldtone rings. The necklace chain itself is multi-linked, and has a large spring clasp consistent with early 1900s jewelry.. Measures 15-1/2" in total length, center design measures 1-3/4" x 1-1/2". Unsigned, is in very good condition. I did notice a few tiny chips on the bottom of the black onyx stone (does not distract from the piece as this is not noticeable while wearing). The floral mosaic design appears to be missing one tiny stone (visible using a loupe) but again this does not take away from such a lovely vintage item. Enjoy this unique necklace!
